Bradley Cooper recalls incident when he was almost mugged at knife point

Bradley Cooper recalled the incident, which he said took place in pre-pandemic times when he used to walk around New York City all the times with his AirPods on.

New York: Bradley Cooper says he was once subject to an incident that could have ended with him getting stabbed on a New York City subway platform.

The actor, who appeared on the latest episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, recalled the incident, which he said took place in pre-pandemic times when he used to walk around New York City all the times with his AirPods on. Bradley went on to explain how the noise-cancelling earbuds actually made him completely unaware of a dangerous situation he was in.

According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter that cited the podcast, Bradley said the incident occurred when he was enroute to pick his young daughter Lea, whom he shared with model Irina Shayk, his ex-girlfriend. Lea was in school and the actor was on the subway when he got held up at knifepoint.

The report quoted him as saying, “It was pretty insane. But I realized I had gotten way, way too comfortable in this. My guard was down because of the headphones,” he said, adding, “That takes away one sensory guidepost — gone.”

Bradley went on to reveal that apart from sporting the airpods, he was trying to be incognito in sunglasses and hat and was walking to a spot on the platform when someone approached him. While he initially though that the person was going to take a photo, he soon realised he was being held at knifepoint.

The actor described the knife as being about two-and-a-half inches long with a wooden handle.

Bradley said he would go on to run down two officers in an SUV to save himself.
