Bihar: At least 6 dead, dozen injured in boiler explosion at noodles factory in Muzaffarpur

Patna: As many as 10 people have died after a boiler exploded at noodles factory in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur on Sunday. A dozen of other workers of the factory have been injured in the incident, officials said.

District Magistrate Pravan Kumar said that the explosion was reported at the noodles factory around 10 am today. The rescue team is trying to ascertain the identities of those who died in the boiler explosion. Also, it is not known how many people were on duty at the factory at the time of the accident.

Rescue operation is underway and the death toll in the incident is expected to rise. As many as five fire tenders are pressed into service to bring the blaze under control. The area has been cordoned off. 

The intensity of the explosion was very severe and residents up to 8 kilometers away could hear the loud sound. People leaving in nearby areas also felt tremors caused by the massive boiler explosion. Soon after hearing the sound, people rushed to the incident site to find out what happened.

The exact cause of the boiler explosion is not known yet. 

Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakhs each to the families of the deceased in the boiler blast.
