Bengaluru: Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly and former chief minister Siddaramaiah on Monday demanded resignation of the state home minister Araga Jnanendra over the incident of alleged killing of a Bajrang Dal activist in Shivamogga on Sunday night.
Congress leader Siddaramaiah said, “I condemn this incident. It took place in the district from where the home minister and Chief Minister come. The culprit should be hanged. I demand the state home minister’s resignation.”
Earlier in the day, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said some leads have been gathered during the investigation in the incident of the Bajrang Dal activist’s murder.
“One Harsha was stabbed to death yesterday (Sunday). Few leads have been gathered in the incident during the investigation which started last night,” Karnataka CM Bommai said.
A 23-year-old Bajrang Dal activist, identified as Harsha, was stabbed to death in Karnataka’s Shivamogga, police informed. After the incident, the district administration has clamped prohibitory orders and had announced holiday for schools and colleges.
Karnataka home minister Araga Jnanendra has said 4 to 5 people could have been involved in the murder of the Bajrang Dal activist. A special team has been constituted to investigate the murder.
The deceased activist worked as a tailor in Seegehatti area in Shivamogga district and was attacked around 9.30 pm on Sunday.
