Kolkata: Counting continues in West Bengal. In these trends, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee seems to be gaining a clear majority.
Significantly, out of 292 assembly seats in West Bengal, a majority of 147 seats were required. Out of these TMC trends, once again taking the lead in 210 seats, clearly seems to be climbing the power ladder. Since it is very difficult to come up against the opposite trends, the TMC seems to be putting on a hat-trick of victory in West Bengal.
At the same time, BJP is leading in 79 seats in West Bengal. However, compared to the 2016 elections, the BJP has gained a big lead. Then BJP and allies managed to win only three seats. Whereas last time TMC led by Mamta Banerjee had won 211 seats in the assembly elections. In such a situation, it is believed that the PM Modi wave has not made any significant difference to the performance of TMC in West Bengal.
Even in the most accurate exit poll, News24 had predicted that TMC may win 180 (± 11) seats in West Bengal.
