Assembly Election 2021: Last day of campaigning for third phase elections in West Bengal, Assam

New Delhi: Today is the last day of campaigning for the third phase of the West Bengal Election 2021 and the Assam Election 2021. The election campaign for the third phase of the elections to 31 assembly seats in 3 districts in West Bengal on April 6 will come to an end this evening.

Today is also the last day for campaigning in 40 assembly seats for the last phase of the Assam Election 2021.

Political situation of West Bengal

The main contest in the West Bengal Election 2021 is being considered to be between the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the BJP. 

West Bengal currently has a Trinamool Congress (TMC) government and Mamata Banerjee is the Chief Minister. In the last assembly election in 2016, Mamata Banerjee’s TMC had won 211 seats, Congress 44, 26 left and BJP won only three seats.

BJP’s credibility at stake in Assam

There are 345 candidates in the fray for the 39 seats of the second phase of the Assam Election 2021. In Assam, there is a close contest between the BJP-led NDA and the Congress-led alliance. 

The Congress is in the fray this time with the Bodoland People’s Front, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and the Left parties, while the BJP is contesting along with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
