Antioxidants that will help you keep cancer and heart diseases at bay

NEW DELHI (DIVYA SAINI): Antioxidants are helpful to keep various diseases at bay including heart diseases and cancer. Antioxidants help to neutralize free radicals and reduce the damage caused by oxidation. Antioxidants help to cleanse your system and acts as a defense against harmful free radicals in the body.

“Gamma oryzanol is useful for controlling elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels, supporting cardiovascular health along with controlling menopausal symptoms. Gamma oryzanol helps lower cholesterol because it helps decrease cholesterol absorption and increase cholesterol elimination. Along with this, it is also known to boost metabolic rate and may help with weight loss,” Swapna Chaturvedi, senior dietician, Department of Dietetics, AIIMS told IANS.

1 Dark Chocolate

People who love chocolates are lucky as dark chocolate is nutritious but in moderate quantity. Dark Chocolate has more cocoa, minerals and antioxidants than regular chocolate. It helps you to protect the healthy cells and has health benefits such as less inflammation and reduces risk factors for heart disease.

2 Strawberries

Strawberries are most popular and easily available fruit that is loaded with vitamin C and antioxidants. It helps to reduce the risk of heart disease by reducing levels of bad cholesterol and raises good cholesterol.

3 Beans

Beans are great source of antioxidants which helps to reduced chronic inflammation and suppress cancer growth.

4 Spinach

Spinach is loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.  Spinach is low in calories and high in fiber which protects your eyes from free radicals that may cause over time.
