New Delhi: The leader of the Liberal Party of Australia and the Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison has conceded his defeat in the national elections. He had congratulated Anthony Albanese of the Labor Party on his victory. The Labor Party was closing into the majority mark in the 151-seat Parliament.
The Australian Broadcasting Commission said that the Labor Party won at least 72 seats whereas the Morrison led coalition of the Liberal-National parties were able to bag only 52 seats. The remining seats were taken by independent and third parties.
He said that he was grateful to be a citizen of the United Kingdoms where liberty and freedom are not supressed. He flaunted the greatness of democracy in his country.
Scott Morrison said, “In this country, at a time like this, when we look around the world, and particularly when we see those in the Ukraine fighting for their very freedom and liberty, I think on a night like tonight we can reflect on the greatness of our democracy. I congratulate Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party and I wish him and his government all the very best.”
He addressed his supporters and thanked them for their belief in him and his party. He also told them that he had talked to Anthony Albanese and congratulated him on his election victory.
“Tonight I have spoken to the leader of the opposition and the incoming prime minister, Anthony Albanese, and I have congratulated him on his election victory,” he told supporters in Sydney.
