LAST UPDATED: Jan. 28, 2021, 1:53 p.m.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has visited the Delhi Police personnel injured and hospitalised following the violence during the tractor parade on Republic Day.

Around 400 Delhi Police personnel were injured during widespread violence during the tractor parade. Thousands of farmers have been protesting against the three farm laws of the central government at Delhi’s borders with Haryana and Uttar Pradesh since November last year.

Amit Shah visited two hospitals on Thursday – Shushrut Trauma Centre and Teerath Ram Hospital. He enquired from the policemen about the incidents that took place during Republic Day and how they are recovering. Both the hospitals are located in Civil Lines.

The Delhi police on Wednesday said that the farmer leaders during their parade were making provocative speeches which led to further chaos.

The farmers did not follow the rules during the tractor parade and broke police barriers. They also hoisted the Khalsa flag which became to be a national insult. Thousands of farmers fighting against the three laws imposed by the government resulted in hurting the police personnel and getting into a fight with them.

Delhi Police Commissioner SN Srivastava said that the farmer unions need to follow a certain set of rules and regulations which they did not. Instead, they created chaos and also broke the barricades put up by the Delhi Police.
