Amid spike in civilian killings, Amit Shah to visit J-K

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Srinagar on Saturday (October 23) for a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir amid heightened terror attacks in the Valley.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Srinagar on Saturday (October 23) for a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir amid heightened terror attacks in the Valley.

This will be his first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since the state was bifurcated into two Union Territories and Article 370 was scrapped.

During his visit, Amit Shah will chair security review meetings and take part in other programmes.

A spate of civilian killings has taken place in Kashmir in which civilians have been shot dead by terrorists over the last few days.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said it killed two terrorists including a Lashker-e-Toiba TRF Commander during an encounter with security forces in Sopat area of South Kashmir. The police said brief encounter took place on Wednesday evening. The two terrorists were involved in the killing of two non-local labourers in Kulgam.
