Amarnath Yatra Resumes Amid Deaths, Injuries And Unknown Fate

New Delhi: Following the suspension of three days as an impact of a massive cloud burst incident in Baltal base camp, the Amarnath Yatra has finally resumed on Monday. The cloudburst had already claimed the lives of at least 16 pilgrims who were stationed at the Baltal base camp. The incident had injured a lot of people and many are still feared missing.

The Yatra resumed from the Nunwan Pahalgam base camp which is located in South Kashmir. However, the Yatra still remains suspended on the Baltal route.

Officials told News 24 that the Amarnath Yatra has been partially resumed. A fresh batch of pilgrims has been allowed to proceed towards the holy Amarnath cave from the Nunwan base camp in Pahalgam today morning.

The pilgrims were allowed to ascend towards holy shrine as the yatra resumed at around 8 am. There was a slight delay in resuming the Yatra due to rain.

The Yatra was suspended soon after a cloudburst hit the Baltal base camp on Friday. At least 16 people died, dozens were injured while the fate of around 37 people remain unknown at the moment.
