New Delhi: Alia Bhatt made her entry into Bollywood with Karan Johar directorial Student of the Year, but it was Imtiaz Ali’s Highway that proved her mettle. The critically-acclaimed film featured her alongside Randeep Hooda, a pair which no one but Imtiaz Ali could have brought together. Today, the film has completed its seven years and the actress has gone into a nostalgia trip.
Alia took to Instagram stories to share a candid video of herself with the song Patakha Guddi playing in the background. She accompanied the video with a caption that read “celebrating 7 years of Highway..”
The video follows the same pattern that Patakha Guddi did as Alia is seen on a road journey with her head slightly tilted outside the window. However, instead of truck, it’s a car this time.
In the Instagram stories, Alia also asked her followers which of Highway’s songs is their favourite. The film boasted a soulful juke box of songs including Patakha Guddi, Maahi Ve, Tu Kuja, Heera and Kahaan Hoon Main among others. Notably, the film also had her debut song Sooha Saha, a remake of Punjabi folk song composed by AR Rahman and penned by Irsahd Kamil.
Highway featured the story of a girl(Alia Bhatt) who gets kidnapped a day before her marriage and ends up finding companionship in her kidnapper(Randeep Hooda). What starts as an escapism turns into an adventure when the two bare their souls in front of each other.
The film was directed and written by Imtiaz Ali.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia Bhatt is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. She also has a slew of other projects in her pipeline including RRR and Brahmastra.
