Afghanistan recalls ambassador, all senior diplomats from Pakistan

Islamabad: Taking a major decision, Afghanistan has called back its ambassador and other senior diplomats from Pakistan after the alleged abduction and torture of the daughter of Afghanistan’s Ambassador Najibullah Alikhil in Islamabad.

Pakistan has termed this decision of Afghanistan as ‘unfortunate and regrettable’. At the same time, Kabul was urged to reconsider this step taken.

Pakistan gives clarification of the matter

On this whole matter of torturing the daughter of the Afghan ambassador, Pakistan has clarified that the whole case of kidnapping is being investigated seriously. And the directive of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is being followed at the highest level. 

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, in an interview to a private TV channel news channel, said that the ambassador’s daughter was not kidnapped and Rashid alleged that the whole episode was an “international racket” to “defame” Pakistan. was the result.

However, Sheikh Rashid himself claimed a day earlier that Pakistan is close to arresting the kidnappers. 

“This is a matter of top priority as the prime minister has directed to resolve it and arrest the culprits,” the minister had said. 

Full case of kidnapping and torture of Afghan ambassador’s daughter

Silsila Alikhil, the 26-year-old daughter of Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Najibullah Alikhil, was allegedly abducted, tortured and assaulted by unidentified men on Friday. This incident was accomplished while she was travelling in a hired vehicle.

Silsila Alikhil was kidnapped from the vehicle itself and tortured before being released. After which she was found near the F-9 Park area of the capital, on whose body marks of assault and torture were found. In a statement to the police, the Afghan ambassador’s daughter said that she had gone to buy a gift and had hired a taxi.

While coming back, the driver pulled over after a five-minute drive to the side of the road and was stopped by another man, who first shouted at him and then started thrashing him. 

“Because I was scared, I fell unconscious,” Silsila Alikhil had said.

She said that when she regained consciousness, she found herself in a place full of dirt. She then took a taxi to go to a nearby park, from where she called her father’s colleague, who brought her home. This entire statement given by Silsila Alikhil was also broadcast by the media in Pakistan.

Pakistan’s urges on Afghanistan to change decision

After this incident, the Afghan government has called back its ambassador and senior diplomats from Pakistan. 

“The decision of the Government of Afghanistan to recall its ambassador and senior diplomats from Pakistan is unfortunate and regrettable,” the Pakistan foreign office said in a statement.

“The security of the Afghan ambassador and his family and the personnel of the Embassy and Consulate of Afghanistan in Pakistan has been increased further,”the Pakistan foreign office added.

The Foreign Secretary of Pakistan on Sunday met the Afghan Ambassador and highlighted the steps taken by the Pakistan government for the security of the diplomats and assured them of full cooperation. 

“We expect the Afghan government to reconsider its decision,” the statement said. 

Pakistan also urged the government of Afghanistan to reconsider its decision.
