9 die in Bihar’s Gopalganj district after consuming spurious liquor

At least seven people, who allegedly consumed spurious liquor, are hospitalised and are undergoing treatment.

Patna: At least nine people have died allegedly after consuming spurious liquor in Gopalganj district of Bihar. District magistrate Dr Nawal Kishor Choudhary informed that seven people, so far, have been admitted to hospital.

As per reports, officials in the district said a number of people consumed spurious liquor and fell ill. They were then rushed to hospital after they complained of headache, vomiting, vision problems and nausea. 

In West Champaran too, six people have died after allegedly consuming spurious liquor. Police is trying to ascertain the cause of the death which will only be known after the post mortem reports come in, reports said. 

Several reports said three people have been arrested so far and at least 36 pouches of liquor had been seized from them. Police is interrogating those arrested.
