New Delhi: Just when things were seemingly getting back to normal, COVID made a comeback and this is not a good one. Ranveer Singh starrer ’83’ had just released and with the theatres getting closed, the film is suffering a lot. But, there is good news for the fans as ’83’ might soon release on OTT.
‘Yellow’ alert has been sounded in Delhi and several restrictions have been imposed in the national capital under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) after a spike in COVID-19 cases. Cinema halls/ theatres/ multiplexes have been ordered to remain close and this affects the Bollywood industry again, especially ’83.’ The digital rights of the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer ’83’ is owned by Netflix. The release date is ready to be announced and fans are super excited about it.
According to several media reports, OTT giant Netflix has acquired the rights of ’83.’ While an official confirmation is awaited, it is expected that the makers will soon announce a date. If reports are to be believed, the film may release in the first week of January 2022.
Kabir Khan’s directorial ’83’, which revolves around India’s historical 1983 Cricket World Cup win, stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, who was the captain of the Indian team in 1983.
Interestingly, Ranveer’s wife– actor Deepika Padukone will be seen playing Romi, Kapil Dev’s wife in ’83’. The film also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Addinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, R Badree, and Pankaj Tripathi.
