7 booked in UP for allegedly celebrating Pak win in ICC T20 World Cup

Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday booked seven people from five districts across the state, and took four people into custody for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans and celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 Cricket World Cup match, Chief Minister’s Office informed.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday booked seven people from five districts across the state, and took four people into custody for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans and celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 Cricket World Cup match, Chief Minister’s Office informed.

“UP Police have booked 7 people in 5 districts and taken 4 people in custody for allegedly raising pro-Pak slogans or celebrating Pakistan’s victory over India in the T20 Cricket World Cup match that took place on October 24,” CMO said.

The reports claimed that the accused posted Pakistan’s national flag on their What’sApp status or other social media while one person also booked for abusing the respectable Indian cricket team while enjoying the Pak win. 

Three accused from Agra district were booked for raising anti-India slogans while one is from Lucknow for uploading celebratory post on social media. One person among those who got accused from bareilly is responsible for abusing respectable Indian cricket team.  The other accused from bareilly posed a death threat to the complainant.

One accused is from Agra, one from Lucknow while three cases are from Bareilly district of UP. 

Earlier in the day, an FIR was also lodged against a school teacher in Rajasthan’s Udaipur for her celebratory post on What’sApp that read, “Jeet gaye, we won”. The matter reached to Police when the post got viral on social media.
