6.1 earthquake near Amritsar, tremors felt in parts of Uttarakhand and Noida

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck near Amritsar on Friday with tremors felt as far as Delhi. The epicentre of the earthquake was 21 km from Amritsar in Punjab, according to the National Center for Seismology.

Strong tremors were felt in Delhi, the National Capital Region (NCR) and several other parts of north India at 10.34pm, prompting people to rush out of their houses.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:6.1, Occurred on 12-02-2021, 22:34:40 IST, Lat: 31.57 & Long: 75.09, Depth: 10 Km ,Location: 21km ESE of Amritsar, Punjab,” NCS tweeted.
